Nightfall has alot of improvement over Factions. You get hero units that you can customized and help you with quests or missions. You got a better storyline that actually make sense. We finally get lip-sync for all the cinema in-game. There is ton of weapons and items for you to collect. Overall, Nightfall is a great game.

factions is now only good for alliance battles, which im still addicted to. nightfall has great gameplay and is actually challenging, unlike factions. im not very fond of heros and still prefer henches, but thats just me. compared to prophecies and factions, you dont level up as slow as prophecies or as fast as factions. the storyline is very long, almost as long as prophecies. when i got it, i beat it within a week, but thats because i played it nearly 24/7 =P.......get nightfall, its great.

one more perk for Nightfall,
the Elona keyless Treasures have been confirmed as being permanent

Wiki

all 12 treasures will net you 25k + gold items/gems (per character)

Thanks for everyone's input on Factions vs Nightfall. I think I will get Nightfall; however, I am a bit dissapointed that I won't be able to play a ritualist....was kinda looking forward to that. Unless I'm mistaken ritualists and assasins aren't available in the Nightfall game are they?

You get all the core professions in all 3 existing and future campaigns.

Any professions added after prophercies are unique to the campaign in which
they are introduced.

So you have....

Prophercies: All core professions only.
Factions: All core professions + Assassin and Ritualist.
Night Fall: All core professions + Dervish and Para-thingy.
Future campaigns: All core professions + new unqie profession.

I think its a good thing.

Professions they add should reflect the new campaign, its location and its culture. So it makes sense that they are only available on that island or continent.

The core professions are available on all, because they are the stereptypical professions of most role playing games.

Plus its a good sales technique for Anet to encourage us to purchase the other games.

You can how-ever take any character you have created in factions, over to nightfall and play through the entire campaign with it. So you can use a Ritualist or an Assasin if you have created one already.

That's what I thought, but wasn't 100% certain. I agree that it is a good way to do it though having assasin + ritualist only for factions...etc.

Nightfall is worth the money. If nothing else, then for the skills - there's a lot of very good skills in NF. The campaign is also quite good, definitely better than Factions IMO, and the two new professions are very nice.

And heroes. Whether or not people believe they ruined the game, they're darn handy.

Actually, despite what alot of people think, the new skills and shit for Rits/Assassins in NF were a semi-rushed addition since many people bitched about it as usual, and Anet saw it as an advantage to synergize for the previous chapter (Factions).

New profession-wise, Id give NF a 7/10. Dervish is ok overall. In PVE they are anecdotal like assassins. Paragons have their uses here and there - definitely more versetile than a rit, but not as useful imo (PVE still).

The core professions get more of generally the same set of skills.

The absolute main addition that you should get is the heros. By Chapter 4, all the previous chapters will be ghostly empty, so now you'll have heroes to kill shit with.

People who play to get rich dont like it anymore. But people who play for fun can now afford nice weapons and good mods. And we cant forget heroes!

I have a blast with nightfall, I dont play to get rich but im never broke. I think its a good balance on the PVE side right now for the economy. Its not perfect but the average player stands a chance.

*edit* I would rate it right up there with Prophecies in playability. Factions was a letdown for me as well.
I must agree. I play soley for fun, and enjoy it a lot. although I'm constantly broke, I can barely make it past 6k without finding some use for it.
